
Alkyl Ketene Dimer Emulsion can be made by mixing it in water at the temperature of about 45 degree Celsius with various thickening agents including starch or water soluble ether. It is a neutral sizing agent which is used in paper manufacturing industries for the enhancement of product quality. AKD is industrially derived from fatty acid chain length between myristic & behenic acid. Alkyl Ketene Dimer Emulsion provides water repellent property by reacting with the hydrogen bonded structure to form adduct.
